Peacock is a fine dining restaurant in Indiranagar, tucked away cozily next to the Hush Puppies store, right above Cremé & Crust. It boasts of authentic punjabi cuisine. Some of the dishes were initially available as part of the opening promotion in Cremé & Crust.
On entering Peacock, one feels the blues albeit of the happy kind! Blue is used predominantly in the decor around the place and the dining area looks plush and inviting. Truly one of the recent places where the decor was classy!
Having visited early on a Sunday evening, there wasn’t much crowd to begin with. There was a big group of punjabis seated a corner table and some couples on other smaller ones. The manager of the restaurant came forward to check for our seating preference and we chose a nice roomy circle at the center of the place.
Looking at the extensive menu, we first chose watermelon juice and bharwa mushroom starter. Special mention must be made for their staff – attentive, polite, smiling & knowledgeable. Two thumbs-up!
The Watermelon juice was absolutely fresh, sweet and filling, a nice touch was the slices of watermelon on the glass 🙂
The Bharwa Mushroom was spicy, soft and delicious. It was served with sauteed capsicum, onion & beetroot. Very good beginning indeed! Almost made me order for seconds 😉
Now comes the tricky part of the review – both good and bad at the same time for the following dish. The Butter Chicken which we ordered… the taste was perfect, the chicken pieces were tenderly cooked and substantial.
But… but… but imagine our utter shock to find 2 Mutton pieces in this gravy. Yes, 2 whole pieces of Mutton in the Butter Chicken gravy!!! Since we had already finished more than half the gravy, we did not complain. But I do want to know this from their chef – since when does mutton come as a combo with chicken????!!! Disappointed that there was this BIG a mistake from their side. I don’t think I will ever order this here again.
The Tandoori rotis were soft and yummy and were served one at a time ensuring their warmth and quality.
Like I said earlier, the service is quite efficient and discreet. The meal costed close to 1500 (Rs.) with all the taxes thrown in.
The experience was good for a first impression barring the mutton inside the chicken dish fiasco! Perhaps the place warrants another visit to dispel this wrongdoing 🙂
